Shamanism is an ancient spiritual method of healing based on spiritual practices and principles found cross-culturally on every continent since before recorded time.

Shamanic Practitioner, Colleen Kiley

Colleen Kiley is a shamanic practitioner and Reiki Master Teacher residing in Vestal, New York.  She is the director of Healing Harmonics and operates a private healing and teaching practice.  Healing Harmonics offers contemporary programs rooted in ancient traditions through private sessions, workshops, apprenticeships and drumming circles.  Colleen has studied with Michael Harner, Ph.D., founder of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies and Sandra Ingerman, author of Soul Retrieval: Mending the Fragmented Self.  Colleen has completed the Foundation’s Three-Year Program in Advanced Shamanism and Shamanic Healing.  She has also studied with shamans in Northern China, Inner Mongolia and Central Asia and North America.  Colleen is a minister of the Circle of the Sacred Earth.

Modern Shamanism

Healing Harmonics seeks to re-integrate Shamanic healing methods into contemporary society.  Shamanic healing co-exists with conventional health care, and does not seek to take the place of other healing systems.  It is a holistic system of healing and ritual:

Core Shamanism

Core Shamanism is based on practices and principles found in many indigenous cultures which have been adapted to contemporary cultures.  One distinctive practice of Shamanism is journeying to other worlds, aided by personal helping spirits, to assist individuals and community.  The spirits are the true healers and teachers.

Advanced Study Programs

Advanced Study Programs are offered to individuals who have been introduced to the process of shamanic journey and are interested in deepening their connection to spirit.

Intent  – Deepening connection to spirit through classic shamanic methods and practices.  Helping the planet.  Helping ourselves.  Helping others.  Honoring the spiritual communicative spirit of animals, landscapes, ancestors through shamanic journey and ceremony.

Content – Examples of focus area will be in Shamanic Healing: soul retrieval, extraction, divination, power animal retrieval, psychopomp (death and dying), spirits of nature, sacred dances,  initiatory ceremonies including the creation of sacred ritual dress and masks, work with animals and plants.  Colleen will be sharing shamanic technique from around the world.  Working in community has many advantages as we will participate in some very powerful ceremonies and dances.  Opportunity for great personal expansion exists.

Instruction in shamanic drumming

Group Workshops may be arranged.  Private study is available.

Divination – Discovering information about ordinary reality issues by asking the spirits for information.  Working with stones and nature as an emphasis.

Drumming Circle – Group of individuals who meet to drum and journey in community.

Extraction – The Shaman pulls the intrusion (spiritual essence of a weakening or harmful condition) from the body.

Power Animal – Helping spirit that guides and protects an individual and is discovered through personal revelation.

Power Animal Retrieval – A Shaman retrieves a helping animal spirit to aid the client.

Psychopomp – Working with issues of death and dying.

Ritual – Although Shamanism is not a religion, through the practice of Shamanic methods one develops a spiritual practice rich in ritual, community, and close with the natural world.

Soul Retrieval – The reintegration of fragmented soul parts often lost during times of trauma.
